About Black Forest Labs

Black Forest Labs is a young AI company in Freiburg, Germany. It builds FLUX, a family of models that turn text descriptions into images. Licensing is deliberately tiered: FLUX.1 [schnell] is under Apache 2.0, FLUX.1 [dev] is released for non-commercial purposes, and FLUX.1 [pro] is a proprietary model available only through an API. Developers, designers and companies use such models to generate illustrations or product images. Anyone looking to replace Midjourney, Nano Banana Pro and OpenAI will find a European option in Black Forest Labs.
