OpenStreetMap is an open world map maintained by volunteers; the foundation that looks after it is based in the United Kingdom.

About OpenStreetMap

OpenStreetMap is an open map database built by a community; the OpenStreetMap Foundation in the United Kingdom looks after the project. The data may be used freely under the ODbL licence and is easy to take along, for instance to run your own map services. The Foundation's own servers for map tiles and address search (Nominatim), however, are volunteer offerings without guarantees: they have usage caps and no service commitments for businesses. Bigger projects should therefore self-host or use a service provider. OpenStreetMap can replace Google Maps, Apple Maps or Mapbox. The UK lies outside the EU; the origin is Europe.
