Piper

Piper is a locally running neural text-to-speech engine from the voice team of the Open Home Foundation in Switzerland, free and open source.

About Piper

Piper is a neural text-to-speech engine that runs locally on your own machine. It is developed by the voice team of the Open Home Foundation in Switzerland, which means Europe but not the EU. Access is available through the command line, HTTP, Python and C and C++. Piper works on ordinary hardware, including devices of the Raspberry Pi 4 class. Typical users are developers, people who run their own servers, makers of accessibility software and voice projects that want speech output without being forced into a vendor cloud. Tooling for training new voices is included; the licences of individual voice models may differ. Amazon Polly and Google Cloud Text-to-Speech count as alternatives.
