Session

Session is an encrypted messenger that needs no phone number and hides its metadata through a decentralised network.

About Session

Session puts privacy and anonymity at the centre and encrypts messages end to end. The messenger was developed by the Oxen Project, backed by the non-profit Oxen Privacy Tech Foundation. Registration needs only a randomly created identifier 66 characters long; a phone number or mail address is not required. The app routes messages across a decentralised network with onion routing much like Tor, to hide IP address and metadata. Group chats, voice messages and files are supported. Free and open source; an alternative to Signal, WhatsApp, Discord or Slack. Switzerland does not belong to the EU.
